Description
A gift for my mother. I got her a mug but she's notoriously hard to please so figured I'd back it up with something else, just in case - here's hoping it goes down well... She's crafty - sewing, lacework and tatting - so there's a few of those motifs in there.
I think the piece is probably a bit too complicated - guess I'm a glutton for punishment! - and I'll admit in some places it's held together by nothing but tape, but it's not bad for a first attempt at this kind of papercutting! (except my typography sucks) Took some time to get used to working with the thinner paper (it's just ordinary printing paper).
A little concerned that when I showed this to my sister her reaction was 'Nice! Now all you need is an actual card!' (omgwtfthatisthecard!)
Greatly influenced by Julene Harrison and also Rob Ryan's papercuttings. Also Dana Tanamachi's amazing chalk art.
---
Medium: Paper, A4 (ordinary printing paper, A4, 80 gsm)
Picture source: Made the design myself (obviously!)
Time: A day, with meal breaks
Reblog: Sure, just drop a link back
